Heifer International works to end world hunger, poverty and care for the earth through gifts of livestock and training in their care. By giving the gift of livestock to a struggling family, you give them the means to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty, become self-reliant, and hope for a better future. 

When a family receives the gift of a cow, which can produce 4 gallons of milk per day, providing a source of protein for that family but also giving that family a source of income by selling surplus milk. When given the cow, the family agrees to pass on its first calf to another family. As each family receives the gift of a cow, the first calf is passed on. Your initial gift keeps multiplying and improving lives exponentially.
